Jury selection began Thursday, Aug. 25, and continues today, Aug. 26, in the trial of Herbert Lucas Scott. 

22-year-old Scott is facing sexual assault charges, including sexual assault of an at-risk adult, in connection with multiple incidents that allegedly took place at the Pony Patch Ranch which was owned and run by his mother Melissa Boyd Scott. 

The victims’ ages range from 9 to 18 years old.

Scott faces nine counts of Sexual Assault on a child by one in a position of trust, in addition to two counts of obscenity. The charges follow an investigation by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office and the 11th Judicial District Attorney’s Office. 

Opening statements are expected today in what is scheduled to be a 7-day trial.
