Joel “Moe” Keith Husen

March 5, 1961 ~ February 22, 2024

Joel “Moe” Keith Husen, 62, of Turret (Salida) Colorado, passed away, Thursday, February 22nd, 2024, at his home.

Moe was born on March 5th, 1961, in St. Paul, Minnesota to Don and Joan (Christianson) Husen. He graduated from Monticello High School in 1979. From there he advanced his carpentry skills working high end cabinetry and supported his younger brother, Wade, and mother, Joan, in their college endeavors. He later moved to Colorado where he fathered two children with his first wife Lauri (Lull) Husen. Some years down the road he took a motorcycle trip across country where he met his second wife, Margeret “Peggy” Armstrong of Arizona. They spent their time body building at Exerflex Gym in Salida, riding motorcycles and constructing many homes in the area. Together, they founded Norseman Construction LLC and, finally, they purchased their dream property in the ghost town of Turret, Colorado. It was there Moe became a widower and lived out his remaining years working on their rustic mining-themed compound with his friends and family. He always said if he wasn’t working, he would die. He enjoyed cutting and splitting firewood, assisting his children, friends and neighbors in DIY projects, and hosting get togethers including the famous annual pig roast at his handcrafted saloon on the hill. His hard work, strength and kindness will live on through the profound knowledge he shared with all of us.

Moe is survived by his son, Kyle Cody Husen, daughter, Megan Angeline Husen, daughter in law Sarah Marie (Skief), his granddaughter, LillyAnne Jean Husen, grandson Baine Owen Husen and his niece, Heidi Arrigotti, niece, Donna Lull and nephew Steven Lull.

A casual memorial will be held at Currents Restaurant in historic downtown Salida Colorado on Sunday, April 7th, 2024, from 2:00pm-5:00pm. Contributions for memorial expenses can be made to Moe’s GoFundMe account titled: Joel “Moe” Husen at www.gofundme.com. A celebration of life and pig roast will be held at his home, in Turret, later this summer (to be announced).
