Colorado-based Collegiate Peaks Bank, a division of Glacier Bancorp, is pleased to announce that Joe Smith, the bank’s Mountain Regional President, has been recognized as the “Citizen of the Year” by the Salida Chamber of Commerce. This award is given to recognize a citizen’s generosity of spirit and volunteerism.

“I’ve been fortunate to raise my family and establish my career in the community that I grew up in, so giving back to the community and making a positive impact for both the present and future is really important to me,” said Joe. “Being recognized by the Salida community and the recipient of Citizen of the Year is an honor and validation that what I’m doing matters. I’m humbled and appreciate the Salida Chamber of Commerce and Salida community for this award.”

Joe has served on the Salida School Board since 2017, assuming the role as Board President in 2021. He’s also served on the Board of Directors for the Chaffee County Economic Development Corporation since 2018 and is currently their Vice-Chair. He has become an integral part in this community and provides strong financial background and understanding, stability, leadership, and knowledge from his vast experience.

With his time on the School Board, Joe has had a leading role in developing and strengthening relationships with community partners, enhancing board stability and leadership, completing the annexation of CMC into the community to provide higher education opportunities, enhancing education for students to ensure their success, and planning for the alignment of district assets to meet the future needs of the Salida School District.

With the Chaffee County Economic Development Corporation, Joe has been able to offer his extensive financial knowledge and leadership skills to the organization and numerous local businesses lending a helping hand to the success of business across the Chaffee County.
