The IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program will offer free income tax return preparation help beginning February 7 and running through April 13.
Tax preparation assistance will be available on Saturdays and Mondays at the Salida Methodist Church. Appointments are required for all sessions. Salida-area residents can schedule an appointment by calling 719-431-4578. Buena Vista residents should call 719-293-1857 to make an appointment.
The VITA program is designed to help qualifying individuals and families file their federal and state tax returns at no cost. Eligibility is limited to households with an annual income of $63,000 or less, and not all taxpayers may qualify for the service.
Organizers encourage eligible residents to schedule early, as appointment availability may be limited during peak tax season.
