The IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is offering free income tax return preparation services to qualifying residents in Salida and Buena Vista.
Appointments are required for the service. Salida residents can schedule an appointment by calling 719-431-4578, while Buena Vista residents may call 719-293-1857.
The free assistance is available to households with incomes of $63,000 or less. Officials note that not all taxpayers will qualify and encourage individuals to confirm their eligibility when making an appointment.
The VITA program is designed to help eligible taxpayers file accurate returns and claim credits for which they may qualify.
