The IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance, or VITA, program will once again offer free income tax return preparation assistance beginning February 7th and running through April 13th.
The service will be available by appointment only on Saturdays and Mondays at the Salida Methodist Church. Those interested in scheduling an appointment in the Salida area can call 719-431-4578. Buena Vista residents may schedule appointments by calling 719-293-1857.
The VITA program is designed to help eligible taxpayers prepare and file their returns at no cost. However, not all taxpayers qualify. Participation is limited to households with an annual income of $63,000 or less.
Organizers encourage eligible residents to schedule early, as appointment slots may be limited during the tax season.
