The U.S. Forest Service is now inviting public comment on a new plan to improve camping management on Forest Service lands near Leadville, Buena Vista, and Salida.
The proposed dispersed camping management plan aims to:
- Enhance recreation by expanding vehicle-based (car) camping near forest roads
- Designate specific sites for camping and parking to reduce environmental impacts
- Improve resource protection and reduce overcrowding
A preliminary environmental assessment, along with maps, supporting documents, and instructions for submitting feedback, is now available online.
