The Colorado State Patrol is reminding drivers that the state’s Chain Law and Passenger Vehicle Traction Law is in effect.

Now through May 31st, all commercial vehicles must carry chains.

If drivers don’t comply with the restrictions, they could face fines up to $1,000 if they get stuck or block the road.

Smaller cars have to have tire chains, approved ATD tires and tire tread depth must be at least 3/16 of an inch and labeled “all weather” or “mud and snow.”
