It was reported in early October that the contractor providing the drivers for the local Buena Vista FedEx ground facility were laid off without notice. A representative from Matador Transit Inc. stated that the lay-off happened after a long negotiations over a rate increase failed. Sources say that over 23 drivers had been laid off.
There is apparently a second contractor filling in to deliver packages to the area using U-Haul trucks. Nevertheless residents are still reporting long delays in receiving their packages. So far representatives at the local ground facility in Buena Vista are not commenting.
