SALIDA, Colo.— A collection of original mixed media pieces from Buena Vista artist Conrad Nelson are
on display at Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center (HRRMC) now through Dec. 31 of this year.
As an artist, Ms. Nelson’s work is an assembly of hand-printed paper, fabric, sewing, photographs, text,
embellishments and other materials and images that have significance to her. “Making a diverse collection
of ingredients coherently connect represents a broader theme of ‘synthesis’ in my work. The result reflects
a visual story, makes an ethical statement, or recounts family history,” Ms. Nelson notes.
After a career in banking, Ms. Nelson obtained degrees in Liberal Arts and Fine Arts, pursuing her love of
art further. She moved to Colorado in 1993, where she has been practicing art and working with various
forms of mixed media, primarily collage.
In addition to exhibits in the U.S., her work can be found in private and corporate collections here and
abroad.
HRRMC displays the work of regional artists each quarter, with an emphasis on the Arkansas Valley. Call
