Denver Issues Emergency Declaration Due to Influx of Migrants

City of Denver

Denver has issued an emergency declaration for the influx of migrants, opening new emergency shelters to help migrants arriving from Central and South America.

The first shelter opened last week and took in around 271 people. Dozens more were sent to churches after the shelter ran out of space.

Denver plans on opening two more centers. One will house more people, while the other will be a reception center for migrants.
