Demon wrestling scores well at league while Salida places trio

The Buena Vista Demons represented the 2A ranks well at the Tri-Peaks League Wrestling Tournament over the weekend, placing second as a team on the strength of 11 of their 13 wrestlers placing in the event for a team score of 142.5.

The Demons were led by Chris Hutchings (106), Micah Hertrich (160) and Seth Moss (170) who all won championships at their weights. David Arellano took second at 126, and then was joined by third place finishers Jackson Helmke (113), Isaac Hutchings (120), Hayden Camp (138), Chris DeLuca (152) and Isaiah Romero (195). Tim Sullivan (220) and Kaden McFee (145) would wrap up their days with 4th place finishes.

For Salida, the Spartans only took three wrestlers to the meet, and saw all three earn podium spots. Drew Johnson (132) led the way with a 2nd place finish. Collin King (126) finished in 4th and Nico Wilson (182) finished 3rd. The three wrestlers making the podium meant Salida finished well in points, taking 7th out of nine teams with 39.5 points.
