Middle school students in the Upper Arkansas Valley have more time to enter the National Civics Bee, as the application deadline has been extended to February 17.
The nonpartisan competition is organized locally by the League of Women Voters and the Buena Vista Chamber of Commerce. Students enter by submitting a four-paragraph essay proposing a creative idea to improve their community.
Top-scoring essay finalists will be invited to participate in a live quiz-style competition, scheduled for April 26 in Buena Vista.
