The Custer County Sheriff’s Office is reminding drivers about the dangers of speeding after deputies reported a motorcyclist traveling at 120 miles per hour on Highway 96 near Bear Basin on Sunday.
According to deputies, the motorcycle was later clocked at 98 miles per hour as it approached Silver Cliff. The driver, identified as 20-year-old Ezra Trujillo of Pueblo, was stopped and cited.
Deputies said Trujillo did not have the required motorcycle endorsement on his license, and the motorcycle was not registered. When questioned, Trujillo reportedly told deputies, “I was just having fun.”
The Sheriff’s Office used the incident to remind all drivers to obey posted speed limits and practice safe driving habits on mountain highways.
