Custer County Commissioner Bill Canda is currently under investigation by the Colorado Ethics Commission following a formal complaint filed by Planning and Zoning Director Dorothy Carsten, according to the Wet Mountain Tribune.
Carsten alleges that Commissioner Canda may have used the county’s Tax-Exempt Certificate for personal gain by purchasing hardware and supplies for his private septic business. The complaint outlines at least six alleged incidents, and the Ethics Commission has agreed to investigate further to determine if other violations may have occurred.
According to Tribune Publisher Jordan Hedberg, the investigation is expected to take at least six months, after which a public hearing will be held. Both parties will be allowed to present evidence and testimony.
