Colorado Parks and Wildlife is asking anglers to avoid fishing on a portion of the Arkansas River through Pueblo during the hottest parts of the day. The voluntary fishing closure is in effect daily, noon to midnight, until further notice on the Arkansas River from Pueblo Boulevard East downstream to where the river meets Fountain Creek.
Biologists are monitoring river conditions and will modify or lift the voluntary closure as water temperatures, streamflows, and fish health improve.
Low water levels and high temperatures are making it hard for trout to survive catch-and-release after being caught. For more information go here: https://cpw.state.co.us/news/08062026/voluntary-afternoon-fishing-closure-begins-pueblos-ark-tailwaters
