COVID-19 “By The Numbers” Tuesday, April 7, 2020

Chaffee County Public Health is reporting that there are now 26 cases of COVID-19 in the county.  

  • Two people have died from COVID-19 in Chaffee County.
  • Custer County is reporting 2 cases of COVID-19
  • Lake County Public Health is reporting 3 positive cases of COVID-19.
  • Saguache County has 3 cases.
  • Fremont County has 3 positive cases. 
  • Gunnison County is reporting 93 positive cases of COVID-19. 

Statewide today, 150 deaths have been confirmed, 994 hospitalized as cases total more than 5,172.  There are 37 outbreaks at residential and non-hospital health care facilities in the state, including Columbine Manor.  There are 14 positive cases at Columbine, consisting of residents and staff.  Chaffee County Public Health is working closely with the state department of health and Columbine Staff to control this outbreak. 

Health officials estimate that 17,000 to 18,000 Coloradans have or have had the virus.  The officials also estimate that 30% to 40% of Coloradans will catch the virus in the coming months, and that 5% of those people will require hospitalization.
