Colorado will likely not see a predicted record high in state prison populations.
In December, numbers as high as 24,000 were estimated by 2025, but a new estimate for the states prison population shows numbers which are over 3,000 estimated inmates lower.
The new estimate is being taken as a good sign from lawmakers, as they have been working on solutions to Colorado’s current over crowding in prisons.
Colorado’s high in inmate population was at 23,200 and since has been reduced to 19,951 as of June.
