The Colorado Department of Corrections announced yesterday that visitation has been immediately suspended at all state prison facilities following a deadly incident at the Bent County Correctional Facility.
According to the Department of Corrections, two inmates died and a third inmate was hospitalized following the incident. No correctional staff members were injured.
State officials say the suspension of visitation statewide was implemented as a precautionary measure while the incident is investigated and facility security is assessed.
The Department of Corrections has not yet announced when visitation will resume and says additional information will be released as it becomes available.
