On their Facebook page, Colorado Parks and Wildlife reminded hikers to be rattlesnake aware while out on trails.
While these reptiles are often a misunderstood and persecuted member of the natural landscape, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be wary about encountering them on your hike. If you’re hitting the trails on a warm morning, be sure to keep an eye out for rattlesnakes in your path.
And don’t forget to keep your dog on a tight leash if you’re in rattlesnake country.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife manages 42 state parks, more than 300 state wildlife areas, all of Colorado’s wildlife, and a variety of outdoor recreation.
