Colorado drivers can expect to see an increased police presence on the roads this Thanksgiving weekend as the Colorado State Patrol partners with local law enforcement agencies for the annual Heat Is On DUI enforcement period.
Throughout the holiday, officers will conduct saturation patrols and set up sobriety checkpoints across the state, all aimed at identifying and removing impaired drivers from the road. The enhanced enforcement effort comes during one of the busiest travel weekends of the year, when alcohol-related crashes traditionally spike.
Officials urge motorists to plan ahead, designate a sober driver, or use rideshare services to help keep Colorado roads safe.
