Two gray wolves roamed the watersheds of Colorado’s southern Front Range mountains over the past month, according to a newly released map from Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW).
The map shows collared wolves traveling through areas near Cañon City, Penrose, Divide and Woodland Park. The data provides a snapshot of wolf movement in the region as the state continues its wolf reintroduction and monitoring efforts.
CPW officials emphasized that no wolves have crossed Interstate 25 or spent time near urban centers. The activity has remained confined to more mountainous and rural terrain.
Wildlife officials are asking for the public’s help in tracking wolf activity. Anyone who spots a wolf — or captures photos or video — is encouraged to report the sighting directly to Colorado Parks and Wildlife.
The agency continues to monitor the collared animals and update the public as new movement data becomes available.
