City of Salida is encouraging residents to adopt voluntary water conservation measures as the community heads into the summer season.
City officials say the proactive effort is intended to preserve water resources, protect the city’s water infrastructure and prepare for possible future drought conditions or periods of high water demand.
While mandatory restrictions are not currently in place, the city is asking residents to take simple steps to reduce water usage in hopes of avoiding stricter measures later in the season.
Officials say mandatory water restrictions could be implemented if water demand approaches or exceeds 90 percent of the city’s treatment capacity.
