As summer kicks off and Independence Day approaches, the City of Salida reminds all residents and visitors to celebrate safely, responsibly, and legally by refraining from the use of personal exploding fireworks. These restrictions help protect our community, wildlife, and pets.
The use of personal exploding fireworks is strictly prohibited within the City of Salida. This ordinance is in place to reduce the risk of accidents, injuries, and wildfires—especially during dry summer conditions.

For those eager to enjoy fireworks, we invite you to attend the professional fireworks display organized by the Salida Fire Department, launching from Tenderfoot Mountain at dusk on July 4th. These shows are permitted under the City’s adopted Fire Code and are conducted by licensed professionals with safety as the top priority.
In the interest of public safety, Spiral Drive on Tenderfoot Mountain will be closed at the gate to ALL traffic—vehicles, bicycles, and pedestrians—on July 4th. Biking trails that cross Spiral Drive will also be closed for the day.

Additional Reminder: Keep Pets Safe During Fireworks

Loud fireworks can be terrifying for pets, especially dogs. The City of Salida urges pet owners to take the following precautions to keep your furry friends safe and calm during the holiday:
• Keep pets indoors in a quiet, secure space during fireworks.
• Make sure your pet is wearing a collar with updated ID tags.
• Consider using calming aids, such as anxiety vests or white noise machines.
• Never bring pets to fireworks shows or leave them unattended outdoors.

Let’s make this summer safe, joyful, and respectful for all—including our four-legged companions. Join us for the professional display and leave the fireworks to the pros. Together, we can ensure a memorable and safe Independence Day for everyone in Salida!
