City of Salida Receives REDI Grant Award to Support Downtown F Street Activation
Salida, CO — The City of Salida has been awarded a $123,245 Rural Economic Development Initiative (REDI) grant through the Colorado Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) to support continued activation and enhancement of downtown F Street.
The project represents Phase I implementation of the recently completed Salida Downtown Strategic Plan and focuses on improving the vibrancy, functionality, and visual identity of the downtown corridor.
Grant funding will support several key initiatives, including the design and engineering of an F Street irrigation and lighting plan, installation of mosaics created by local artists on newly constructed planters, installation of downtown public art, and decorative painting of identified alley entrances and exits along F Street.
“These investments help build on the momentum already happening downtown while creating a more welcoming and engaging experience for residents, businesses, and visitors alike,” said City Administrator, Christy Doon. “We are excited to continue implementing the community-driven vision outlined in the Downtown Strategic Plan while supporting local artists and improving public spaces.”
The REDI program supports rural communities across Colorado through strategic investments that strengthen economic development, community vitality, and long-term resiliency. Project work is expected to begin in phases throughout 2026 and 2027.
