Salida, CO-  The City of Salida is pleased to announce the opening of a new temporary public parking lot at the corner of First and D Streets, providing additional parking to support access to downtown businesses, Riverside Park, and the riverfront during the busy summer season. With the return of the F Street pedestrian mall, this new lot offers a convenient option for visitors and residents alike as they explore and enjoy the heart of Salida.

The lot will provide approximately 40 standard parking spaces, with additional room for parallel parking of oversized vehicles. This parking option is expected to remain available until construction on the affordable housing Artspace project begins vertical development.

To improve visibility and ease of access, the City will be installing public parking wayfinding signage along First Street and at the alleyway entrance to the lot. Updated parking maps will also be made available to help the public navigate this and other parking options in the downtown area.

“This new lot is part of our continued efforts to support access to the downtown core while long-term affordable housing development is underway,” said Christy Doon, City Administrator “We appreciate the community’s patience and collaboration as we work to enhance infrastructure and downtown vitality.”
