Christmas Mountain Set to Light Tonight, but No Parade of Lights This Year

The Lighting of Christmas Mountain is set for Friday, November 27th.

Each year during the holidays, Tenderfoot Mountain is transformed into Christmas Mountain with a beautiful display of lights. The mountain will still be lit after dark on Friday, Nov. 27th, but this year there will be no opening ceremony or fireworks.

Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Parade of Lights in both Salida and Buena Vista have been cancelled.

Melissa Traynham, Executive Director of the Buena Vista Chamber of Commerce, announced the cancellation of the BV Parade of Lights: “It is with a heavy heart that we made this decision, along with all the difficult decisions that the COVID pandemic forced us to make in 2020. As of now the Chocolate Walk and Photos with Santa are still scheduled, but we will keep the community posted if that changes.”

Traynham added, “It is a priority that our community stays healthy and our businesses remain open. We are committed to doing whatever we can to make those things happen.”
