Chaffee County Search and Rescue North reported yesterday that REACH Air Medical Services were deployed in an effort to reach two hunters that had been stranded in rough terrain over night on Sept. 26th. The hunters reported being cliffed out and exhausted, the condition of one rapidly deteriorating.
When REACH could not access the location, they were able to insert two search and rescue members near the hunters. They were able to locate the hunters and rehydrate them. A rope lower was performed, followed by a hike out through difficult terrain. Though exhausted, everyone was able to walk out of the field by 2:53pm.
