Chaffee County’s Two-Week Positivity Rate Climbs Over 6 Percent

Chaffee County Public Health is reporting 90 new Covid-19 cases in the last 7 days and 224 in the last 14 days for a two week positivity rate of 6.33 percent.   

Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center is currently at 48% capacity with 2 patients currently hospitalized with COVID-19. Based on the increasing Covid-19 cases in Chaffee County, Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center has implemented several restrictive measures

Chaffee County Emergency Medical Services will continue testing on Sundays at the EMS station at 10364 County Road 120 in Salida. The next Sunday testing clinic is on November 21st from 3 to 5pm. The link to the scheduler can be found here. Moving forward, Sunday testing clinics will be from noon to 2pm throughout the end of the year. The link to those events will be shared the previous week. These clinics are for symptomatic and close contacts only.

CCPH has also secured a free mobile testing clinic on Saturdays at the Buena Vista Community Center at 715 E Main Street from 10 am to 2 pm through the end of the year and on Monday, December 20th and 27th from 9 am to 12 pm and on Tuesday, December 21st and 28th from 12 pm to 4 pm in Salida at the Touber Building (C Street Entrance) at 448 East 1st Street to ensure continued testing options throughout the holidays.

In addition to regular COVID-19 vaccination clinics at CCPH, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment’s mobile vaccination bus will also be in Chaffee County, providing first, second, and booster doses of all types of COVID-19 vaccine for ages 5 and up as well as flu shots.

  • Saturday, November 20th from 11am-5pm in Salida on Sackett and G
  • Saturday, December 4th from 11am-5pm in Buena Vista at Railroad and Main St.
  • Sunday, December 5th from 11am-5pm in Salida at Riverside Park
  • Saturday, December 17th from 11am-5pm in Buena Vista at Railroad and Main St.
  • Sunday, December 18th from 11am-5pm in Salida at Riverside Park

Anyone 18+ who has received their second dose of Pfizer or Moderna 6 months or more ago or a single dose of Johnson & Johnson 2 months or more ago is eligible and should seek out a booster shot. CCPH strongly recommends that anyone eligible gets their booster shot right away.
