Salida, CO – Chaffee County Women Who Care (CCWWC) is proud to announce that Buena Vista Heritage was chosen as the financial award recipient for the first quarter of 2026. On Tuesday, January 13, 2026, members of CCWWC gathered at Cornerstone Church in Buena Vista to hear funding pitches from three local organizations including Chaffee Cares, Jane’s Place, and Buena Vista Heritage.

After each nonprofit representative presented on how CCWWC funding would be used and the potential impact of the group’s support, the CCWWC membership voted. The vote was very close, but Buena Vista Heritage won the hearts and minds of the ladies in the room and will use the $18,400 to support critical renovations of the 1882 Chaffee County Courthouse building in downtown Buena Vista.

Buena Vista Heritage is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that preserves and shares the history of Buena Vista and Chaffee County. Through education, conservation, and community involvement, they aim to ignite curiosity and foster understanding in current and future generations.

“What a great way to kickoff 2026,” said Sandy Visnack, Chaffee County Women Who Care

Steering Committee member. “Our three presenters shared not just details about their programs and services, but also their deep passion for the work they do and the daily impact they have in Chaffee County.”

In 2026, the Chaffee County Women Who Care steering committee hopes to grow their membership from 184 to 200 members and make an even greater local impact.

“As we look ahead to 2026, Chaffee County Women Who Care is focused on helping fill critical funding gaps created by cuts over the past year or so,” said Visnack. “We do this by highlighting a wide range of local nonprofits, learning how they collaborate to create lasting change, and growing our membership so local dollars continue to make a meaningful impact right here in our community.”

The next quarterly meeting of Chaffee County Women Who Care will be Tuesday, April 14th at A Church in Salida. The membership will hear from Salida Mountain Trails, the Noteables, and Shining Mountains Montessori School.
