Jolene Ellis, the current Chaffee County
Treasurer, today announced her candidacy for election to the office of Chaffee County Treasurer in
the 2026 election.
Following the retirement of the former Treasurer, Ellis was honored to be appointed to the position,
ensuring continuity and a smooth, stable transition for the county and its residents.
Ellis brings more than eleven years of experience serving Chaffee County, including her tenure as
Deputy Treasurer, where she gained extensive, hands-on knowledge of the office’s daily operations,
financial oversight, and statutory responsibilities. She also served as Deputy Public Trustee, working
with residents, lenders, and legal professionals as a neutral party to ensure fair and lawful processes
for both borrowers and lenders under Colorado statutes.
In addition to her public service, Ellis has seven years of experience in banking, providing her with a
strong foundation in financial management, accountability, and customer service. Throughout her
career, she has demonstrated a commitment to accuracy, integrity, and reliable service for both bank
patrons and taxpayers.
Ellis has lived in Chaffee County for eighteen years with her family. One of her children has
graduated, and another is currently in school. As a longtime resident and parent, she understands the
importance of community and is grateful to call Chaffee County home.
Ellis is committed to transparency, fiscal responsibility, and the continued efficient operation of the
Treasurer’s Office. “I have proven experience and a strong understanding of the responsibilities of
