Chaffee County Public Health is advising residents to prepare for higher health insurance premiums in 2026 for plans purchased through Connect for Health Colorado, the state’s health insurance exchange.

Officials say the increases are expected due to changes at the federal level, though exact rates have not yet been finalized.

Some Coloradans may still qualify for assistance through the Colorado Premium Assistance Program, which provides financial help for eligible plans purchased on the exchange. Those with incomes above 400% of the federal poverty level may not receive assistance, pending final state decisions.

Key enrollment dates:

  • Open Enrollment begins: November 1, 2025
  • Coverage starts: January 1, 2026
  • Enrollment deadline: December 15, 2025

Residents with questions or who need help navigating coverage options can schedule an appointment with a Health Insurance Navigator through Chaffee County Public Health.
