Chaffee County Public Health has launched two new women’s health programs aimed at reducing barriers to contraception and helping individuals make informed decisions about if and when to become parents.
The first initiative, Birth Control for You, is a statewide program that provides eligible Coloradans under the age of 24 with access to free and confidential sexual health services. The program is designed to ensure young people can obtain contraception and related care without financial or access obstacles.
The second program, Choose When, offers financial assistance for long-acting reversible contraception (LARC) to individuals facing barriers to care. LARC methods, including intrauterine devices (IUDs) and implants, are among the most effective forms of birth control and can provide protection for several years.
In addition to these new services, Chaffee County Public Health continues to provide free sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing. Walk-in clinics are available in Salida on Mondays and in Buena Vista on Tuesdays.
Health officials say the expanded offerings reflect an ongoing commitment to improving access to reproductive health services throughout the county.
