The Chaffee County Landfill will be closed to the public Wednesday, Mar. 22nd, from noon to 3:30 pm to allow for staff training on a new point-of-service software program being implemented this month.
The county says the new “SMS Turbo” system will streamline scale operations and automate recordkeeping and accounting. In addition to improving the transaction process for both county staff and landfill customers, the system will allow for more efficient and accurate data capture and reporting to regulatory oversight agencies such as the Colorado Department of Health and Environment.
The landfill will reopen for regular hours on Thursday.
