Chaffee County Commissioners yesterday extended the Local Disaster Emergency declaration through April 7.
The order gives Andrea Carlstrom to set policy and protect public health. Carlstrom said, “Chaffee County Public Health anticipates that Chaffee County will see cases of the coronavirus and its transmission with the community. Developing social distancing policies prior to an extensive outbreak has been a proven means of helping to contain COVID-19 outbreaks.”
Chaffee County Public Health has closed all hotels, motels, short-term rentals of 30 days or less, and bed and breakfasts. These establishments are closed for leisure purposes. These facilities may only be used for specific emergency travel and lodging purposes, such as a user who is traveling through the county and needs to use a facility for one-night only or for emergency personnel.
Organizers of events are also being asked to cancel or postpone in-person events that consist of 10 people or more.
There continues to be 0 positive cases of COVID-19 in Chaffee County.
Chaffee County Public Health will begin offering daily Facebook Live updates on COVID-19 starting today on the COVID-19 Chaffee County page. The updates will be at noon Monday through Thursday and a virtual town hall meeting on Friday’s at 12:30 pm.
