Chaffee Commissioner Baker Announces Bid For Re-election–Romanoff Wins Dem Caucus

Chaffee County Commissioner Keith Baker announced his plans for re-election at the Democratic Caucus yesterday.

On his Facebook page, Baker said, “I formally launch by bid for re-election to Chaffee County Commissioner District 1 to continue my career of public service.  Thank you in advance for your support.”

Republican Hannah Hannah of Buena Vista announced her plans to run for the District 1 Board of Commissioners seat at the recent Lincoln Day Dinner.

The U.S. Senate race is also starting to take shape.

Democrat Andrew Romanoff won the Democratic Precinct Caucus over former Governor John Hickenlooper.  Romanoff won 55 percent of the vote to Hickenlooper’s 31 percent. Precinct Caucus results will determine the number of delegates that candidates have at upcoming county caucuses.  Results there will determine delegate counts at an April 18 state assembly, where candidates will need 30 percent support to have their names placed on June 30 ballots.

The caucus is one to two ways to get on the primary ballot—candidates also can do so by gathering signatures.

U.S. Senator Cory Gardner easily won the Republican caucus and will face the winner of the Democratic Primary in November.
