Chaffee Chips Offers Free Slash Removal Services to Reduce Wildfire Risk in Lower Chalk Creek

Chaffee Chips is providing free neighborhood slash removal and chipping services in Lower Chalk Creek through October 24th to help landowners create defensible space around their homes. This initiative is designed to reduce wildfire risks in the area. Landowners can also request a free property assessment from a Colorado State Forester by calling 719-539-2579.

Since Chaffee Chips launched in 2020, over 750 landowners have created 2,300 slash piles that have been chipped or removed, thanks to the support of the Colorado State Forest Service and Chaffee County Fire Protection District.
