The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is reminding drivers to plan ahead as holiday travel increases across the state over the next couple of weeks.

With more people expected to be on the roads, CDOT says motorists should anticipate heavier traffic in many areas, especially along major highways and mountain corridors.

To help reduce congestion, CDOT will suspend construction projects statewide by noon tomorrow and again on Wednesday, December 31. In addition, no construction work is scheduled for Christmas Day or New Year’s Day, allowing for smoother travel during peak holiday periods.

Drivers are encouraged to check cotrip.org for real-time road conditions, travel alerts, and weather updates before heading out.
