The Colorado BLM is reporting that a wildfire is burning 9 miles northwest of Canon City and continues to grow in rough terrain.
At last report, the Canon Lands Fire was said to be 50 acres in size on the west side of Table Mountain. The fire is zero percent contained.
Two helicopters are working the fire. Ground crews are working to establish communications, escape routes, and safety zones at the fire’s location before engaging on the ground.
No injuries have been reported and no structures are in danger. It is suspected that lightning started the fire.
