The deadline has been extended to August 24th to return applications to fill a vacant seat on the Buena Vista School Board. To be eligible for appointment, you must be a registered voter, lived for 12 consecutive months in the Buena Vista School District, and reside in District 1.
If you are interested in serving on the board, pick up and drop off applications at the Buena Vista School District office located at 113 North Court St. Buena Vista. Applicants will be interviewed by the Board of Education at their August 31st meeting.
The Buena Vista Board of Education is comprised of seven members who are elected by the local voters for a four year term. Two members are at-large representatives and five members represent specific districts or areas within the school district. Board meetings are held twice a month on the second and fourth Mondays. The public is always welcome to attend the meetings and may provide input during the public comment section of each meeting. The Board is a varied group of community members, many of whom are parents.
