The Buena Vista Contin-Tail Gem, Mineral and Fossil Show runs today through Sunday at the Buena Vista Rodeo Grounds. The show features about 100 vendors showcasing gems, minerals, fossils, lapidary art, jewelry and more, plus gold panning, children’s dig pit and demonstrations.
Many of these vendors are miners, prospectors, and artisans who personally unearth, design, and craft the pieces they sell, offering fascinating stories and expert knowledge.
This free outdoor event is began 55 years ago. The name “Contin-Tail” is a blend of Continental Divide and tailgate, honoring the show’s humble beginnings where a simple gathering of vendors swapped and sold their wares out of their vehicle tailgates.
