Betty Ashley Obituary
Betty Louise Ashley, (nee Johnston), passed away peacefully at home early on Christmas morning, December 25, 2025. Betty joined two older brothers, Reid and Bill, whom she adored. Betty was born in Park City, Colorado to “Buster” and Edith Johnston on November 7, 1934. Her formative years were spent in Bonanza, Colorado where she graduated at the top of her class and received her diploma from Saguache High School. A few years later, she married Jack E. Ashley and began her family, raising their three children in Salida, before moving back to the Bonanza area. It didn’t matter where Betty physically resided, however, Betty’s house was always “home”‘ to all family and friends. Betty was our favorite Avon Lady and won multiple awards and achievements throughout her 54 years of involvement with Avon. Her grandchildren fondly remember asking to tag along with her to visit her customers over the years. Betty loved spending time with her family and friends, frequently requesting that they join her in playing music, singing, and above all, dancing. The woman could cut a rug! She organized a number of international family reunions where family met family, becoming fast friends and continuing such gatherings to this day. She also had a wicked sense of humor that kept all those who knew her on their toes, at all times, and she nearly always won every round of Casina and Chinese Checkers against those brave enough to challenge her. She will be greatly missed, as she was our mama, our gram and granny, and our best friend. Betty was preceded in death by her parents (Buster and Edith), brothers Reid and Bill, sisters in-law Caroline and Josephine, Betty’s husband, Jack Ashley, and her oldest child (the “Golden Boy”) Daniel Ashley. She is survived by her children, Tami Ashley and Scott Ashley, her daughters in-law, Pam Ashley and Cathy Ashley, her seven grandchildren and their spouses and partners, her 10 great-grandchildren, and many, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 2nd, 2026 at 11:00am at Lewis and Glen Funeral Home in Salida, CO.
