Monarch Mountain is hosting Backcountry Day this Sunday, running from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The event is designed to celebrate backcountry skiing and riding while promoting safety and education in winter mountain environments. Participants can expect a full day of activities focused on responsible backcountry travel.
Meanwhile, the 78th annual Ski Joring event in Leadville has officially been announced. Organizers say there will be no preregistration this year. All competitors must register in person on Friday, March 6.
Ski Joring events will take place in downtown Leadville, beginning on Saturday, March 7, and continuing through Sunday. This long-standing winter tradition combines skiing, horsemanship, and speed, drawing competitors and spectators from across the region.
The Ski Joring event is free and open to the public, making it a great weekend activity for locals and visitors alike.
