[Update] Avalanche and snow removal operations are complete.
[Original Article] Colorado Department of Transportation crews will be conducting avalanche and snow removal operations on Monarch Pass, Hwy 50, tonight (Mar. 31st).
The operation will begin at 5:30 pm. Eastbound traffic will be stopped near the summit (MP 190). Westbound traffic will be stopped at Maysville (MP 210).
The exact time of reopening the highway is not known and the closure may last for as long as two hours. Regional travelers should plan ahead, allow for extra travel time, or arrive and drive through the gates before the designated closure time.
