The presidential inauguration is set to take place Wednesday, January 20th, in Washington DC.
There has been much chatter in regards to groups or persons intent on disrupting the event as well as government operations across the country.
To this point the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office is not aware of any credible threat towards our critical assets or our citizens. We do however continue to monitor numerous sources including statewide public safety outlets to stay up-dated on any changes that may occur.
The Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office is adding additional resources to our normal staffing on Inauguration Day, January 20th. Our goal is to provide additional visibility at county critical assets as well as to provide an added layer of safety at these locations.
We anticipate no disruption to governmental services however we have prepared ourselves in an unlikely event. We continue to work closely with our local LE partners and elected officials on this matter. We appreciate the support the community extends to our first responders on a day to day basis.
Due to the sensitive nature of our operational plan we are not able to provide any further information.
Thank You,
John A. Spezze
Chaffee County Sheriff
