Merle and Mary Baranczyk, owners of Arkansas Valley Publishing, and Jim O’Rourke, CEO of O’Rourke Media Group, announced the sale of Arkansas Valley Publishing to O’Rourke Media Group Thursday.
O’Rourke Media operates in eight states with 31 publications.
The purchase of Arkansas Valley Publishing includes five newspapers—The Mountain Mail, Chaffee County Times, The Herald Democrat, the Park County Republican, and Fairplay Flume.
According to O’Rourke Media Group’s website, their business strategy is to “O’Rourke Media Group’s business strategy is to ‘roll-up’ local community newspapers and publications and profitably transition them to a digital media enterprise.”
The sale becomes official on Monday.
Danny “Dan R” Ridenour has been in radio and television broadcasting for over 40 years, starting as a senior in high school in Rogers, Arkansas. His radio career has had stops in Nashville, Memphis, Oklahoma, and eventually, Colorado. Dan enjoys being involved in the community, having been a member of the Upper Arkansas Service Club and is currently on the board of directors for the Salida Community Center and is a member of the Chaffee County Fair Committee. He and his wife Carrie spend their days doing everything the mountains have to offer: hiking, camping, fishing and skiing. They've raised 3 children and have 2 grandchildren.
