Colorado’s snowpack could use some help from a couple of approaching winter storms. Data shows that as of Jan. 2nd, snowpack is well below what is considered normal.
Snowpack for the Arkansas River Basin is at 68% of normal. The Colorado River Basin is at 74%.
All the news is not bad. It is pointed out that the months that typically get the most snowfall in Colorado are still ahead, plus, there was so much run-off after the last snow season that reservoir levels are currently above average for this time of year.
