An Open Letter to Salida High School Seniors and Their Families

Salida High School Principal Tami Thompson discusses commencement celebrations.

SHS Class of 2020 Seniors and Families,

In the midst of these uncertain times, we want you to know that we are committed to making every effort to recognize you and your families during this important lifetime milestone, High School graduation. Unfortunately, it has become clear that the planned graduation dates in May will not be an option.

Celebrating the class of 2020 is very important to us, so we have set a tentative new date for graduation: Saturday, July 18th.

We hope this date will allow some of the current health threats to resolve themselves and permit us to hold a ceremony. With that said, your health and that of your loved ones has to be our first priority. We will continue to monitor the social distancing recommendations from public health and the state leadership and make adjustments to these plans as necessary.

Regardless of the date, all SHS students who meet SHS graduation requirements will receive a diploma, and other graduation honors, to acknowledge their accomplishments. If you have any concerns or question about your credits, please reach out to Mr. Tressler (530-5407; or at rtressler@salidaschools.org )

Until we get the chance to congratulate you in person, please know that we are here to help you finish up your education and move onto your next big adventure.

We appreciate your flexibility and understanding during this challenge.
