Chaffee County Public Health has been instructed by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment to hold off on implementing their COVID Booster Program.

In an open letter to the public, Chaffee County Public Health announced that, “while President Biden and Governor Polis have recently made statements that COVID-19 booster shots should be available for various populations, Chaffee County Public Health has been instructed by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment to wait until the use of boosters is approved and the eligible populations and logistics surrounding boosters are determined before implementing a booster program.

“Rest assured, as soon as the FDA and ACIP make their science-based decisions on the appropriate use of boosters, CCPH will be ready to offer all eligible people boosters.

“In addition, there will be other booster providers throughout the county to assist in this effort. It is important to recognize that those who are fully vaccinated still have remarkable immunity and protection against serious and deadly illness from COVID-19. As soon as more direction is given from the state health department, FDA, and ACIP, CCPH will be communicating its plan to the community at large.”
