State transportation officials this week asked the federal government for millions of dollars in relief funds to repair significant damage to highways across southwest Colorado following historic floods.
The Department of Transportation is requesting $65 million so they can begin to repair the damaged roadways. CDOT says $6.5 million in emergency funding has already been approved to help with immediate repair work.
CDOT is working to get U.S. Highways 550 and 160 and Colorado Highway 151 open as soon as it is safe and possible to do so.
